The Big Buddy Program is preparing for a summer of providing quality programs to youth who would benefit from positive role models, learning experiences linked to their school day, real-world experiences that demonstrate the need for the completion of structured education programs and access to special community events that celebrate talents and build skills that will promote success in the future. The programs, services and supports provided to our youth require the leadership and hard work of caring individuals with a sincere desire to change a life. We have found that the best employees have one or more of the following core characteristics:
- A sincere appreciation for youth development work and understanding of the positive outcomes that result from high-quality programming;
- Motivated by their own life experiences to help others;
- Have specific knowledge or skills that they are willing to share;
- Willingness to give additional “non-compensated” time when job tasks are not completed during “compensated” time
Jobs will be available in all service unit areas in management and frontline positions. Please read the detailed job descriptions for each listed position below. You statement of purpose should be a well written 3 – 5 paragraphs that contain the following information:
- Why are you interested in the position(s) you are applying for? It is important to list the position(s) that you are applying for in the heading of your Statement of Purpose. You do not need to do a Statement of Purpose for each position. One statement of purpose that addresses the questions will suffice.
- What makes you the best candidate for this position(s)?
- What skills, talents, etc. do you possess that will make you successful at the job(s) you are applying for? Use your previous experiences to support that you can fulfill the job responsibilities outlined in the job descriptions.
**IMPORTANT NOTE**:
Your Statement of Purpose and Employment Application should be MAILED or DROPPED OFF to the Big Buddy office at 1415 Main Street, Baton Rouge, LA 70802. Emailed employment interest information will not be accepted. Incomplete interest information (Statement of Purpose and Employment Application) will be removed from consideration.
